MBA Advice — How to Prepare Now (link to PDF file; contents below)

MBA students need to have taken a fundamentals course in statistics and one in micro-economics by the end of the First Year of study. These can be taken before you enroll or in your first year at Brandeis. Each topic is offered as a half-semester course, so if you need to take both here, they would take up a full course in your schedule. We advise that, in so far as possible, you try to complete these requirements before you get to Brandeis, so you will have more time for electives and for core MBA courses. There are two ways for you to do this:

  • You may fulfill this requirement with previous courses taken in your prior graduate or undergraduate education. If you have taken at least an introduction or survey course in statistics or in micro-economics, you do not need to do anything else now. You will not be required to take the Brandeis courses.
  • If you have not taken such courses in your prior education, we strongly advice that you try to fulfill the requirements with an online course. If you take any of the following courses at Coursera.org, please provide us with a certificate of completion by email or when you get here. This will ensure that you are prepared for other courses.
