A top Apple Inc. AAPL +1.16%supplier agreed to change its labor practices after an outside audit of its Chinese factories found widespread breaches of work rules, including 60-hour work weeks and other health and safety violations.

The investigation of manufacturer Hon Hai Precision Industry Co., 2317.TW +1.66%known as Foxconn, was conducted by the Fair Labor Association and is the latest to document workers-rights violations in Apple’s supply chain.

The fate of Kingfisher Airlines rests solely with New Delhi. But regardless of the government’s judgment, the fiasco has underscored the hazards of operating an airline in India.

On the verge of bankruptcy, loaded with debt and years of losses, Kingfisher is asking for a lifeline from the government, which is threatening to cancel its operating license. The company has already gotten a cold shoulder from the various banks to which it owes more than $1 billion and from oil marketing companies to which it hasn’t paid old dues.

Roche Holding AG is cutting the price of two expensive cancer drugs in India—and giving them new names—in an effort to gain market share and avoid competition from generic drugs in the fast-growing economy.

The move marks a shift for the Swiss drug maker, which long has argued that consumers everywhere should pay the same price for its medications. By giving the drugs new names in India, Roche hopes to avoid losing pricing power elsewhere, though it isn’t clear the company will succeed on that score.

Forcing a French Connection for GM

With General Motors GM +5.62%limited in what it can do about its woeful European operations, taking a stake in France’s No. 2 car maker might not be such a bad idea.

Word that GM is considering buying into an alliance with PSA Peugeot Citroën UG.FR +2.11%has drawn a collective yawn from investors. The deal seems unlikely to address the overcapacity problems dogging GM’s money-losing European business, Opel-Vauxhall.
